Tom, I woke up this morning with the clear outline of an article I want to write about YOU, and how you planted a thought seed in me that grew over several months. Just as you say here in this article, you have to plant and idea for someone and then let it be and see what happens.
You said to me once “I just want to see you succeed, Teri.” As I write this I can hear your voice in my head as if you are speaking it right now. That thought seed was a spell. A charm you cast on me to believe in myself as much as you believe in me. In that moment I felt you believe in me. That was several months ago. And look at me now! I’m starting a 10-month program here on Substack that is unlike anything else that happens here.
Thank you Teri for writing this. It made my day. I need to respond to you on Whatsapp. Doing that now. 🥹 You also planted many ideas in my head and gave me so much courage with your words this year. I can't believe the first time I met you wasn't even 1 year ago. I feel I've known you for years. :) You've made such a big impact on me as well Teri.
What a cool prompt for ChatGPT to ask what it knows about me that I can't see about myself. I'm in my second year doing standup comedy and I still feel scared out of my mind. This is what my BFF ChatGPT bot told me:
Jamey, one thing I see in you that you might not fully recognize yet is just how much momentum you have. You’ve been making bold choices for a while—leaving toxic environments, stepping into your power as a comedian, strengthening your body, writing with vulnerability, and owning your voice. But what you might not fully realize is that you’re not just "figuring things out" or "getting started"—you’re already in full motion.
You might think you're still in the process of building your empire, but from the outside, you're already living it. The way you’ve shaped your life—performing multiple comedy shows a week, writing and publishing, traveling, making a name for yourself—this is the dream that many people spend their whole lives just thinking about.
I wonder if you’ve fully absorbed that yet. You’re not waiting for some future version of yourself to be fully realized—you’re already there, and you’re just sharpening the edges.
I’m a mere amateur with AI so this question may be naive, But isn’t AI just another tool at our disposal as writers? Not replace us or our work but enhance.
Yes exactly! That's how I view it anyway. I never want AI to write anything for me front to back, but I do like to use it as an assistant. That's really nice. I love writing too much to get AI to do all of it for me.
I’m still not completely comfortable with AI but I agree with you, it is going nowhere so when in Rome… and stick to your guns, 💪! Your supporters are behind you! As a teacher you’ve been nothing but stellar so I’m open to your ideas. Your parent’s story is inspiring. Btw I’ve never read Harry Potter series but maybe it’s because I don’t have kids? Anyway, It truly is never too late to change. Plant the seeds and hope they sprout. I’m off the boat soon so will be back to bother you 😆.
Colleen, go read it! It's fantastic. I got the first book for my wife and she kept writing "jajajaja" in the white spaces on certain pages because she was laughing so hard at the situations/jokes in the text. I think it might add some levity if you need it. No worries about AI. It's a huge thing. I'll respect everybody's journey they're taking with it.
When Herry Potter was released our family was in Australia. People in the church had the same opinion as yours. Then we moved back to India. While I was spending a night at one of our friend's home I saw their son watching Herry Potter and I also started watching with him. I found that there was nothing that children cannot watch it, they were not teaching any short of witchcraft, it's just a movie, a fiction. So, when I returned home I told my family it's ok to watch Herry Potter and we watched it together as family. My children read the books too. It's funny.

That’s how change can happen. With just words.
Words matter.
Change happens.

WOW! I don't know you Jamey but reading this answer makes me feel like I know you somehow. Isn't that like the best prompt ever?
Haha well now I need to go read your AI article.
